Abe Thebyane shows

Abram Thebyane is a retired Corporate Executive, who spent about 30 years as an HR Professional in a senior capacity in a number of companies in South Africa.

His spiritual journey began in 1999 when he trusted the Lord Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. From that time Abe’s spiritual journey took him through a process where he experienced the major strands of the Christian faith. Abe first attended and participated in a charismatic church, with a heavy emphasis on miracles and the prosperity gospel. From there Abe joined an evangelical church that placed a heavy emphasis on correct doctrine and pointing out the errors of other denominations.  Abe also spent a lot of time in a black pentecostal church with local churches all over South Africa and in this environment ended up as a chairman of the church committee.

It was at this time that Abe began to experience deep spiritual dissatisfaction and a feeling of being unsettled which led him to question his own spiritual growth and direction as well as wonder why lack of growth seemed to be the lot of more than 99% of Christians in the church. This questioning process led him to make contact with other Christians who were grappling with the same issues and a process of searching and studying the word of God together with these brethren and individually, led Abe to believe that the Bible prescriptions and examples of the Christian life and how to do church, were largely not being adhered to in Christendom, resulting in this lack of growth among the vast majority of God’s people.

My Favourite Quote

“Not how long, but how well you have lived is the main thing.” ~ Seneca

Abe’s journey of searching for ways and people to meet with as a church as prescribed by the Bible and practised by the early church led him to leave that pentecostal church with his family embarking on a new journey, in obedience to the light he had received then.

This spiritual journey ultimately led to Abe hearing the Lord’s voice to set up a ministry that will broadcast the spiritual truths he and others have learnt with regard to the Bible’s stipulations for being the church and provide a voice for the organic/ simple church wing of the Christian faith. After many years of praying about how to set up this ministry and for people to work with, Abe was led by the Lord to set up a Radio Ministry. He then providentially met with Mkhaliphi and Nomsa Langa whom God had brought across his path to be co-workers in this ministry. In the early discussions between Abe, Mkhaliphi and Nomsa, the idea of a Radio ministry crystallized into an online radio station, and that is how TruWay Radio was established in June 2021, operating out of Waterfall, Midrand, Gauteng.

Abe is married to Minah and they are blessed with two sons, Khumo and Fetse.
